Hamidur Rahman Azad condemns the false comments of liberation war affairs minister and other individuals against Jamaat-e-Islami

-Hamidur Rahman Azad

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Assistant Secretary General and former MP Hamidur Rahman Azad has issued the following statement on 19th August 2023 protesting and condemning the addresses of the speakers which they have delivered in a discussion program held in Dhaka’s Engineers Institution auditorium organized by Ghatok Dalal Nirmul Committee.

Ghatok Dalal Nirmul Committee leaders made some confusing comment against Jamaat-e-Islami which is totally politically motivated and ill-intentional.

Addressing the program, Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque said that Jamaat-e-Islami has killed people in guise of religion-based politics. He threated to root out Jamaat-e-Islami which is an exposition of his vengeance. We are condemning his remark. Jamaat-e-Islami never killed people; rather Awami League is the party who murdered people relentlessly.

Justice (retired) A H M Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik and Ghatok Dalal Nirmul Committee president Shahriar Kabir made some false and concocted remarks against Allama Delwar Hossain Sayedee. They made such indecent comment just to tarnish the image of Allama Sayedee. We do not have the word to condemn this intentional propaganda.

Responding to their address, I want to assert that Jamaat-e-Islami and the countrymen are genuinely shocked due to the expiry of Allama Sayedee. The countrymen witnessed that, immediate to his death, police opened fire and hurled sound grenade and tear shell against the people who had gathered in the hospital to take part in the funeral of their beloved leader. The regrettable fact is, the authority did not allow to hold funeral or even funeral in absentia in Dhaka.

In recent times, funeral in absentia of Allama Delwar Hossain Sayedee have been obstructed in various places of the country. Hundreds of leaders and activists have been arrested as well. False cases have been issued against thousands of leaders and activists. Police also fired open on the funeral that took place in Chokoria of Cox’ Bazar that left one man namely Forkan Uddin killed.

I am urging the liberation war affairs minister Mozammel Haque and others to be refrained from making false and confusing statement against Jamaat-e-Islami.
