Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Acting Secretary General Maulana ATM Masum has issued the following statement on 10th August 2023 protesting and condemning the unjust arrest of 11 Jamaat men including Hatirjheel west thana Ameer Yousuf Ali Molla and others from Madaripur and Meherpur district.

Jamaat-e-Islami’s Dhaka north city’s Hatirjheel west thana Ameer Yousuf Ali Molla secured bails from High Court in false and politically motivated cases. But while he was going to be released on 9th August, he was again re-arrested in a case filed with the Tejgaon industrial police station- which is clear violation of law and human rights. In another incident, police arrested 7 from Madarpur Sadar thana including a union Ameer and Meherpur district Jamaat’s shura member Ruhul Amin and 3 others. We are condemning these incidents of arrest severely.

When the entire nation is united to ensure a free, fair and credible election, at that time, the government is continuously arresting Jamaat leaders and activists to foil the ongoing movement. But this movement will never be subdued through repression, torture and false cases.

I am urging the concerned authorities to release all detained leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir including Yousuf Ali Molla immediately.
