Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s central media and publicity secretary and party’s central executive committee member Matiur Rahman Akanda has issued the following statement on 5th August 2023 protesting and condemning the brutal murder of journalist Monjur Hossain in Kapasia Upazila under Gazipur district.

Centering a verbal conflict for giving a side to overtake, a truck driver hit the motorcycle of Monjur Hossain, the Gazipur correspondent of Dainik Kortoa and Dainik Vorer Dorpon and the editor of a local newspaper "Gazipur Darpo and brutally murdered him subsequently. We do not have to condemn such an intentional murder. I am severely condemning the incident.

In the wake of a verbal fight, such an intentional murder can never be imagined in a civilized society. I am urging the concerned authorities to probe into the incident and to ensure exemplary punishment of the truck drivers. Simultaneously, I am praying salvation for the departed soul of journalist Monjur Hossain Milon and extending sympathy to his mournful family members and relatives.
