Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Acting Secretary General Maulana ATM Masum has issued the following statement on 10th July 2023 expressing deep concern as the personal information of the citizens have leaked from the website of the Bangladesh government.

“Different media have published report stating that personal information of millions of citizens has leaked from the website of Bangladesh government in recent times. This incident of information leakage is very sensitive and it is clearly a threat to the personal security of the people. We are expressing deep concern in this regard.

It is really unfortunate as the personal information of the people is being leaked from the information department of the government. It raises serious question about the security of the people. If a citizen provides information to meet the requirement of the state, then it becomes an obligation for the state to preserve and protect that information. So, the government cannot avoid its liability in this incident.

I am urging the concerned authorities to ensure due security to the citizen’s persona information and also to take stern measures against those personnel who were involved with the information leakage incident.
