Acting Ameer condemns the incident of burning holy Quran in Sweden

-Professor Mujibur Rahman

Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman has issued the following statement on 1st July 2023 protesting and condemning the incident of burning a printed copy of the holy Quran in Stockholm of Sweden.

On 28th June, in front of the central mosque in Stockholm of Sweden, a person has burnt a copy of the Quran which is really very shameful, hateful, insulting and instigative. This incident has hurt the religious sentiment of the millions of Muslims around the world. We are vehemently protesting and condemning the incident.

We have been observing with deep concern that severe conspiracies are being plotted against Islam and the Muslims in different countries of the world. Muslims are being tortured and oppressed in various places as well. As a part of the same ill-efforts, a copy of the Quran has been burnt in Sweden, which made a huge blow against the Muslim sentiments across the globe. We want to assert that such a heinous activity cannot be allowed in the name of freedom of speech. This is a shameful act. It should not be carried out in excuse of democracy. Such a stupid work is not creating hatred and envies, but also causes violence and instabilities.

We are urging the Swedish government to take stern legal measures against the person who was involved with the incident of burning the holy Quran. Besides, I am calling upon OIC and the Muslim world to raise voice in regard to the ongoing conspiracies against Islam.
