Acting Secretary General renounces the comment of Obaidul Quader about Jamaat-e-Islami

Acting Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Maulana ATM Masum has issued the following statement on 1st July 2023 protesting and condemning the illogical comment of Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridge Minister Obaidul Quader in regard to Jamaat-e-Islami.

“The Bridge Minister has termed Jamaat-e-Islami as the B-team of BNP, which is totally false. Jamaat-e-Islami is the biggest Islamic political party. Jamaat-e-Islami has been working to ensure the wellbeing and welfare of the people based on its ideology and distinctive political programs. Jamaat is not a member of any other party. Obaidul Quader has said that Begum Khaleda Zia has given back citizenship to Professor Ghulam Azam. But perhaps he forgot that the then BNP government had arrested Ghulam Azam in 1992. Later, Professor Ghulam Azam obtained his citizenship as the apex court of the country gave the order in his favor.

Bridge Minister has defined Jamaat-e-Islami as a bad omen which is nothing but a meaningless remark. When different political parties are being ruled by immoralities, characterlessness and corruption, at that time, Jamaat-e-Islami is the only political party which is working among the people upholding the values like honest, ethics and good characters. As a result, the people have accepted Jamaat-e-Islami as their trustworthy platform. Jamaat is not doing politics under the backing or patronization of any quarter. Jamaat-e-Islami is working for the betterment of the people by keeping full trust and belief upon Almighty Allah.

I am urging the Road Transportation and Bridge Minister to be refrained from making such meaningless remark.”
