Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Acting Secretary General Maulana ATM Masum has issued the following statement on 1st July 2023 expressing surprises as several national dailies and online news portals have published news on 30th June citing BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir that, ‘সরকারের সঙ্গে জামায়াতের যোগাযোগ এখন স্পষ্ট’ (The communication between the government and Jamaat-e-Islami is very evident).

It has been published in several media that on last 30th June, while exchanging views with the journalists, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that ‘সরকারের সঙ্গে জামায়াতের যোগাযোগ এখন স্পষ্ট’ (The communication between the government and Jamaat-e-Islami is very evident). The countrymen became extremely disappointed over such statement of the BNP Secretary General. We are explicitly dismissing and denouncing the remark of the BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

Jamaat-e-Islami has played a strong role in all previous democratic movements. Jamaat is also taking part in the ongoing movement against the autocratic ruler systematically. In last 15 years, Jamaat-e-Islami has become the worst victim of torture and repression Following the execution of the top 5 leaders, the government has kept Jamaat’s present Ameer, Nayeb-e-Ameer, Secretary General, Assistant Secretary General and other central leaders and activists behind the bar.

Jamaat-e-Islami has never made any political move having compromise or understanding with the fascist, tyrant and oppressor regime. When the entire nation is involved for pressing the one-point demand for establishing caretaker government system at that time such a comment from the BNP Secretary General will cause a damage to the ongoing movement.

We are urging the concerned personalities to be refrained from making such confusing comment and also to get united to bolster the ongoing movement against the incumbent government.”
