Acting Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Maulana ATM Masum has issued the following statement on 12th June 2023 protesting and gainsaying the false and baseless information stated in a report titled ‘ভাঙচুর, অগ্নি-সন্ত্রাসের জন্য জামায়াতকে মাঠে নামিয়েছে বিএনপি’ (BNP has deployed Jamaat-e-Islami for vandalism and fire terrorism) published in various media and dailies quoting a remark of Awami League General Secretary and Road Transportation and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader.

“While addressing a public rally on 10th June in the capital Awami League General Secretary and Road Transportation and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader delivered an address. Quoting that address, various media published reports which claimed that BNP has deployed Jamaat-e-Islami for vandalism and fire terrorism. This information is totally baseless and false. There is no basis and authenticity for such a remark. No one could prove such an allegation till now. Jamaat has never committed or indulged in fire terrorism. The countrymen do not expect such an irresponsible remark from a senior ruling party leader like Obaidul Quader. We are vehemently condemning such a remark.

I am urging Obaidul Quader and all others concerned to be refrained from making fictitious and concocted addresses against Jamaat-e-Islami in the upcoming days.
