60 Jamaat leaders and activists arrested from Dhaka and Narayanganj; Acting Secretary General condemns

- Maulana ATM Masum

Acting Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Maulana ATM Masum issued the following statement on 7th June 2023 protesting and condemning the unjustified arrests of Jamaat’s 60 leaders and activists from different places of the country including Dhaka and Narayanganj.

“The government has been arresting the non-guilty leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and sending them to jail. I am condemning such heinous activities of the government.
The government has been torturing and repressing Jamaat leaders and activists for the last 15 years in order to attain their ill-political interests. They are causing pain to the Jamaat men both mentally and physically. But no repressive government could stay in power by carrying out such oppression and the incumbent autocrat government will not be able to sustain as well.

I am urging the government to stop torture and repression and also to release all detained 60 Jamaat leaders and activists including Bonani Thana secretary Maulana Abdur Rouf and others immediately.
