Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Acting Secretary General Maulana ATM Masum has issued the following statement on 17th March 2022 protesting the aggressive and provocative speeches of Rajshahi city corporation’s mayor Khairuzzaman Liton.

Recently, Rajshahi city corporation’s mayor Khairuzzaman Liton has ordered to slaughter Jamaat and Chhatrashibir activists in order to subdue the emergence and advancement of Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir. His speeches became viral on social media. If a person instigates someone to murder people, it becomes inevitable to take legal actions against him. The way RCC mayor asked to slaughter Jamaat-Shibir men, clearly goes against the constitution and it is tantamount to criminal offenses. We are vehemently protesting and condemning his address.

Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir are used to systematic and democratic trends of politics. On previous occasions, Mr. Liton and his party tried to thwart the progress of these organizations by torturing and murdering its leaders and activists. But they failed in those instances and will be a failure again. His speech is not suitable for a politician rather it is more adjustable to the terrorists. Mr. Liton should remember that Jamaat and Chhatrashibir do not do politics with the kindness or consent of any other parties or individuals. of these two organizations.

We are urging the concerned authorities to take legal steps against the person, who has delivered such instigative and provocative speeches.
