Acting Secretary General condemns derogatory incidents against holy Quran in Comilla; urges Muslims to remain calm

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Acting Secretary General Maulana ATM Masum has issued the following statement on 13 October 2021 protesting and condemning the derogatory incident of the holy Quran that held in the NanuaDighirpar area of the Comilla town.

The holy Quran is the divine statement of Almighty Allah. It is the holy religious book of the Muslim community. Muslims from all over the world love the holy Quran even that their lives. By placing a copy of the holy Quran in the altar of the Hindu ritual site in NiniaDighir Par in Comilla city, the miscreates have committed a heinous crime. They hurt the religious sentiment of the Muslim people. Muslim people’s hearts and minds are stabbed and it has been bleeding like anything. We are vehemently condemning the incident.

Bangladesh is a land of communal harmony. Though it is a Muslim majority country but people of all religions and faiths have been living here for centuries and performing their rituals without any disturbance. Muslims are tolerant and respectful towards all religion. All constitutions of the world guarantee religious freedom. But we have been observing with great concern, some vested quarters are hurting people’s religious sentiment in order to destabilize the country. They are plotting conspiracy against the Muslims and trying to create a tensed situation by instigating the Muslims. Their main target is to destroy the existing religious harmony of the country. But the peaceful Muslims will not allow to implement such ill-intentions.

We are urging the peace-loving Muslims to remain calm and tolerant. Besides, we are calling upon the concerned authorities to take punitive measures against those people who were involved with the derogatory and unjustified incident against holy Quran immediately.
