Ruling party activist’s terrorisms, vandalism and looting created mayhem in Laksham; Acting Secretary General condemns
Acting Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maulana ATM Masum has issued the following statement on 17 September 2021protesting and condemning the massive terror acts of Awami goons and subsequent arrests of the leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir in connection with some false cases.
On last 8th September, the local leaders and activists of ruling Awami League created a mayhem in Laksham Upazila of the Comilla district. They vandalized the business institutions, homes and schools, owned by several Jamaat supporters.
The hooligans vandalized one hospital owned by Jamaat leader and former vice chairman of Laksham Upazila Dr. Sorwar Uddin Siddique, one school and torched a microbus. They also vandalized the hospital owned by Dr. Mobin and the business institution of municipality unit Jamaat Ameer Joinal Abedin. The terrorists caused a loss of 4 to 5 crore taka by ransacking 15 business institutions, 6 houses and two cars. They also wounded 8 local Jamaat leaders and activists.
Instead of arresting the looters and the attackers, police have arrested 6 Jamaat and Chhatrashibir activists on 15 September night and lodged false cases against them. In one hand, police are harassing the Jamaat men while on the other, the terrorists are continuing their anarchic activities which created an anarchy in the entire Laksham Upazila. I am condemning such unlawful arrest and the ongoing terror activities in the Laksham Upazila.
I am urging the concerned authorities to stop terror acts, to pay due compensation to the victims and also to release all the detained leaders and activists immediately.
