Police arrests Noakhali district Ameer; Acting Secretary General condemns

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Acting Secretary General Maulana ATM Masum has issued the following statement on 8 September 2021 protesting and condemning the unjust arrest of Noakhali district Ameer Maulana Mohammad Alauddin and district organization’s working committee and Majlish-e-Shura member NasimulGani Chowdhury.

“Nationwide peaceful demonstration took place protesting the arrest of Jamaat’s Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Porwar and other central leaders. As a part of the same program, Noakhali district Jamaat also hold a protest procession on Tuesday. In the following night, police arrested Noakhali district Ameer Maulana Mohammad Alauddin and district organization’s working committee and Majlish-e-Shura member NasimulGani Chowdhury from their houses. There was no arrest of warrant against them. Police has arrested them in order to harass them politically. It was nothing but a part of the continuous effort of the government to destroy the leadership of Jamaat-e-Islami. But no tyrannical government could hold its office through repression and torture. People are really disturbed and aggrieved due to stubborn and undemocratic activities of the government. We are condemning such unilateral and tyrannical initiatives of the government.

I am urging the concerned authorities to release all the detained leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami including the party’s Secretary General and other central leaders immediately.
