False report published in two dailies against Jamaat-e-Islami; Matiur Rahman Akanda protests

Central Publicity Secretary of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and party’s central Executive Committee member Matiur Rahman Akanda has issued the following statement on 4 August 2021 protesting and gainsaying the report of Daily Bangladesh Pratidin titled ‘নাশকতা পরিকল্পিত লক্ষ্য ছিল সরকার পতন’ (Planned anarchy to oust the government) and similarly denouncing another report of Daily Jugantor titled.

Bangladesh Pratidin published a report today on 4 August titled ‘নাশকতা পরিকল্পিত লক্ষ্য ছিল সরকার পতন’ (Planned anarchy to oust the government) which expressed some false, concocted and unrealistic information against Jamaat-e-Islami. It is unethical journalism to publish a report without proper evidence. The aforesaid report claimed that a meeting was held between Jamaat and BNP leaders on 24th March and two days later from 26th March, massive vandalisms were carried out in government institutions. The report also failed to mention time and place of the so-called meeting. Such loopholes substantiates that this report is totally manipulated and politically motivated.

While in another report titled ‘বিএনপিতেও ভুঁইফোড় সংগঠনের বিষফোড়া, নেপথ্যের পৃষ্ঠপোষক জামায়াত’ (Useless wing organization; Jamaat backs indiscipline within BNP), which has been published in Daily Jugantor, is also concocted and planned propaganda. The report claimed that, although these wing organizations have been established as per the Nationalist ideology, but behind the scene anti-liberation force Jamaat-e-Islami is backing them. Such claim is also nothing but sheer lie. Both of these two reports have been published just to create confusion. We are vehemently protesting and condemning the false and confusing reports published in two nation dailies namely Bangladesh Pratidin and Daily Jugantor.

We want to assert that Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is a systematic and democratic political party. Jamaat do not believe in anarchy, mayhem and violence. In the past, many vested quarters tried to implicate Jamaat with such notorious crimes in order to gain political interest, but they could not be succeeded. Jamaat do not have any relation even indirectly with any unofficial organization or the wing organs of any other party.

I am urging the authorities concerned of Bangladesh Pratidin and Daily Jugantor to be refrained from publishing such false, concocted and confusing report in future.
