Matiur Rahman Akanda dismisses the information published in a post-editorial in Bangladesh Pratidin

Central Publicity Affairs Secretary of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and party’s central executive committee member Matiur Rahman Akanda has issued the following statement on 2 August 2021 protesting and gainsaying an editorial titled ‘অবিরাম ষড়যন্ত্র’ (Continuous Conspiracy) published in Daily ‘Bangladesh Pratidin’.

“Today on 2nd August, Mr. Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik in his post editorial titled ‘অবিরাম ষড়যন্ত্র’ (Continuous Conspiracy) published in Daily ‘Bangladesh Pratidin’ has made relentless propaganda against late Professor Ghulam Azam. At one point of his article, he claimed that, ‘under his backing, thousands of Bengali citizens were murdered- which is totally false, concocted and politically motivated. We are condemning his false and baseless comments.

Language movement hero, late Professor Ghulam Azam was a remarkable figure of Islami movement in Bangladesh. People will remember him always due to Islamic services and patriotism. In a case centering to his citizenship, honorable Supreme Court had delivered a historic verdict. No one has ever filed an allegation that Professor Ghulam Azam had murdered someone.

Mr. Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik wrote some pointless comments about his son, former Brigadier General Abdullahil Aman Al Azmi is man-made and baseless. While working as a military officer, he served the nation with full efficiency and sincerity. He had to be victimized due to the political identity of his father.

I am urging the concerned sections to be refrained from making propaganda against late Professor Ghulam Azam in upcoming days.”
