Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General and former lawmaker Professor Mia Golam Porwar has issued the following statement on 18 July, 2021 expressing deep shock as 6 people have been killed and 30 more injured in a severe road accident in Mithapukur area under Rangpur district.

At 7.30 in the morning, Rangpur bound bus Selfie Paribahan collided with a Dhaka bound bus Joana Paribahan. 6 people including the driver of the Selfie Paribahan killed on the spot. 30 more passengers of these two buses also got injured. Two of them are in critical condition.

I am expressing deep shock for all the deceased and praying salvation for their departed souls. I am also extending sympathy to their mournful families. I am praying for the quick recovery of the injured who are undergoing treatment in different hospitals.

Finally, I am urging the concerned authorities to find out the reasons behind the accidents, to take effective measures against the responsible personnel and to pay due compensation to the victim families.
