Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General and former lawmaker Professor Mia Golam Porwar has issued the following statement on 28 June 2021 expressing deep shock at last night’s tragic incident as at least seven people were killed and over 100 others became injured in a huge explosion on the ground floor of a three-storey building in the capital's Moghbazar.

At 7.30 in the evening on 27 June, at least seven people were killed and over 100 others became injured in a huge explosion on the ground floor of a three-storey building in the capital's Moghbazar. Of the injured, some are still in very critical condition. Who had been killed in this accident, I am praying for the salvation of their departed souls and extending sympathy to their mournful families. May Allah accept all the deceased as martyrs. I am praying for the quickest recovery of the injured.

Finally, I am urging the concerned authorities to find out behind this tragic incident and also to pay due compensation to the victim families and simultaneously to take all out measures to ensure proper treatment of the injured.
