Jamaat organized nationwide peaceful demonstrations protesting the Israeli brutalities in Palestine

Police arrests Jamaat men from peaceful demonstrations; Secretary General condemns

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General and former lawmaker Professor Mia Golam Porwar has issued the following statement on 19 May 2021 protesting and condemning the obstruction and subsequent arrest drive of the police forces from peaceful demonstrations organized by Jamaat-e-Islami in protest of the ongoing Zionist aggression and the brutalities of the occupation forces.

Israeli occupation forces have been attacking the Gaza strip and its establishments every day. The number of casualties is increasing alarmingly. Even the women and kids are not spared from these aggressions. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami organized peaceful demonstrations nationwide protesting the Israeli brutalities. But police obstructed those peaceful programs and arrested 6 from Rajshahi city and 17 leaders and activists of Jamaat and Chhatrashibir from Natore district. We have no word to condemn these arrest incidents as the people attended these processions from their religious obligations. We are protesting and condemning such fascist attitudes and activities of the government.

I am urging the concerned authorities to release all the detainees who have been arrested from the demonstration programs immediately. Besides, I am calling upon everybody to take by the side of the oppressed Palestinians irrespective of their political identities.
