Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 10 May 2021 urging the government to permit former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia to go to abroad for better treatment.

“We are extremely worried as we came to know the latest deteriorating health condition of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia. It is government’s constitutional duty and obligation to ensure due medical treatment of every citizen. The government should consider the age and old age complications of former Prime Minister and Begum Khaleda Zia and subsequently, they should allow her to go to abroad for better treatment. We are praying to Allah seeking her complete recovery.
