Concocted news is being published against Jamaat-e-Islami; Matiur Rahman Akanda condemns

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Central Publicity Affairs Secretary and party’s central executive committee member Matiur Rahman Akanda has issued the following statement on 6 April 2021 protesting and condemning the lodging of new case against 17 central leaders of Hefazat-e-Islam in line with the violence of 26 March which took place at the National Mosque Baitul Mukarram and simultaneously gain saying the intentional propaganda of some newspapers against Jamaat-e-Islami in connection with the incident.

A case has been filed with the Paltan police station on 5 April against 17 central leaders of Hefazat-e-Islam in line with the violence of 26 March which took place at the National Mosque Baitul Mukarram. The world communities had witnessed the violence and offences which had been committed on that day by the goons of ruling party’s wing organizations including Jubo League, Chhatra League and others. Because of their inhuman brutalities in Dhaka, Chittagong and Brahmanbaria, 17 Muslim devotees were killed.

But unfortunately, no case has been filed against those party cadres and none of the offenders is arrested yet. Rather, case has been filed against the central leaders of Hefazat-e-Islam which is really painful. We are also observing that several newspapers are publishing false news implicating Jamaat-e-Islami irrelevantly. We are condemning all these initiatives vehemently.

We are urging the concerned authorities to withdraw the case filed against the Hefazat leaders and also calling upon the attention of those media authorities to be refrained from publishing false news against Jamaat-e-Islami.
