Nationwide murder, crackdown and oppression continues; Secretary General urges government to stop murdering citizens immediately

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General and former lawmaker Professor Mia Golam Porwar has issued the following statement on 28 March 2021 protesting and condemning authority’s open fire against the peaceful demonstrators during today’s strike and also for stopping the ongoing murders at once.

During today’s peaceful strike, the law enforcers have opened fire against the top Islamic scholars of the country and the general Muslim devotees and caused huge bloodshed nationwide. During the occasion of 50 years celebration of independence, government has carried out inhuman crackdown and violent actions which left 17 Islam loving people and wounded thousand others in Chittagong, Brahmanbaria, Munshiganj and elsewhere in the country. Off the injured, many victims are in critical condition. Hefazat-e-Islam’s Nayeb-e-Ameer and respected religious figure of Modhupur Maulana Abdul Hamid and veteran Islamic scholar of Munshiganj Maulana Bashir Ahmed are critically suffering with bullet injuries. The government along with its party men are causing mayhem in Brahmanbaria. We are urging the government to stop their mission of murdering citizens at once. To the government, our clear message is ‘Stop murders and restrain yourself’.

No government could sustain forever by conducting repression and torture against the people and the incumbent government will not able to do so as well. We are urging the fellow countrymen to form strong unity against all types of misrule, tyranny, oppression and murders.
