Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General and former lawmaker Professor Mia Golam Porwar has issued the following statement on 25 March 2021 protesting and condemning police’s heinous attack and arrest drives against nationwide peaceful demonstrations including capital's Motijheel today.

Peaceful demonstrations and processions had been declared by various organizations and civil platforms on 25 March. As a citizen, every person has constitutionally recognized right to exercises freedom of expression both individually and collectively. But we have been observing with great concern that, police have carried out merciless attacks today in various places including capital's Motijheel area against people’s peaceful demonstrations which left many people injured. Police also arrested several from the demonstration. We are condemning such fascist-like initiative of the government.

We are also urging the concerned authorities to release all the detainees who had been arrested from today’s processions immediately.
