Meeting of Jamaat's Central Executive Council held

Bangladesh will not be allowed to become hostage to any kind of conspiracy, intrigue, or to any group

A meeting of the Central Executive Council of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami was held today, Monday, 5 January, at 10:00 am at the party’s central office in Moghbazar, chaired by the party's Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman. The meeting was attended by the Nayeb-e-Ameer (s), Secretary General, the Assistant Secretary General (s), and other members of the Central Executive Council.

The meeting held detailed discussions on the situation surrounding the upcoming referendum and the Thirteenth National Parliamentary Election. It was opined that a free, fair, and neutral electoral environment has not yet been created in the country. Complaints are being received from different places that some government officials within the administration are working in favor of a particular party. In various parts of the country, political leaders and activists are still being killed in broad daylight.

Through a long 16 years of movement and struggle, fascism has been ousted. New Bangladesh has been achieved through the sacrifice of one and a half thousand martyrs and more than thirty thousand injured and disabled. This Bangladesh must not be allowed to fall hostage to any conspiracy, intrigue, or group.

On behalf of the Central Executive Council, a call was made upon the Election Commission, the election officials concerned, and the law-enforcement agencies to perform their duties properly while maintaining the highest level of neutrality and without leaning toward any particular party.

The Central Executive Council of Jamaat has also strongly demanded that the Election Commission and the government take strict measures to ensure one hundred percent administrative neutrality and to make the necessary improvements in the country’s law-and-order situation in order to guarantee a free, fair, and impartial election.
