Hindu Members’ Gathering Held at Line Bill Pabla

In the next election, Daripalla, symbol of justice and fairness, must be made victorious to ensure overall development

-Mia Golam Porwar

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General and former Member of Parliament Mia Golam Porwar said that no more questionable elections would be accepted in the coming days. He stated, “The elections of 2014, 2018 and 2024 will not be allowed to happen again. The people have brought about change with their blood; if necessary, that change will be made successful again, Insha’Allah.”

He further said that students and the masses had previously fought bravely to secure their rights and that they would again have to move forward in unity to realize those rights in the future. “Our struggle is against fascism and extortionists. Whether old or new, as long as fascism exists, our struggle will continue.”

He made these remarks as the chief guest while addressing a Hindu members’ gathering held on Friday (2 January) at 6:00 pm at the Line Bill Pabla Puja Temple.

Expressing his determination to build a dream Bangladesh, Mia Golam Porwar said, “We want to leave behind a country for adolescents, youths and young people—irrespective of religion or race—where everyone can breathe in peace. There is no alternative to Allah’s law and the rule of honest people in building a society free from extortion and illegal occupation.”

Calling upon everyone to follow Allah’s law, he said that in the next election the symbol of justice and fairness, Daripalla must be made victorious to ensure overall development.

The gathering was presided over by Kumaresh Kumar Mondol, a member of the local Hindu Committee, and conducted by Sridam Kumar Mondol. Special guests included Khulna District Secretary Munshi Mizanur Rahman, Assistant Secretary Professor Mia Golam Quddus, and District Executive Council member Advocate Abu Yusuf Mollah.

Earlier, at 4:00 pm, a Hindu members’ gathering was held at the Farm House in Ward No. 1 of Gutudia Union under Dumuria Upazila. The meeting was presided over by Ward UP member Ripon Sarkar and conducted by Ashraf Hossain, where Mia Golam Porwar spoke as the chief guest. Special guests were Khulna District Secretary Munshi Mizanur Rahman, Assistant Secretary Professor Mia Golam Quddus, District Executive Council member Advocate Abu Yusuf Mollah, Aranghata Police Station Ameer Maulana Monwar Ansari, Harinata Police Station Ameer Maulana Abdul Gafur, Gutudia Union Parishad Chairman Tuhinul Islam, former UP member Nihir Kanti Sarkar, Narayan Sarkar, and Master Amal Kumar Sarkar, among others.

Mia Golam Porwar said that Islam is the only religion that has ensured the safety and rights of all people irrespective of nation, religion, and race. If the people entrust Jamaat-e-Islami with the responsibility of running the state, then all social, fundamental, political, and religious rights of an Islamic welfare state will be ensured. He added that whenever minority communities were persecuted in the past, Jamaat-e-Islami stood by them—evidence of which, he said, is known to the people of Dumuria.

Recalling his election as a Member of Parliament in 2001, he said that he had been elected by the votes of both Hindus and Muslims alike and had tried his utmost to safeguard the trust given by the people. He also mentioned that development projects worth more than five hundred crore taka were implemented in the Dumuria–Phultala region, including schools, colleges, mosques, madrasas, temples, cremation grounds, and roads.

He further said that the water problem of Bill Dakatia has now become a major crisis for the people of the area. In the past, water drainage was arranged through canal excavation and river dredging. If the people give him the opportunity to serve again in the future, he said, permanent solutions to the drainage of Bill Dakatia along with the overall development of this neglected region would be undertaken, Insha’Allah.
