Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former MP Professor Mujibur Rahman expressed support for the just demands of the leaders of the Bangladesh Non-Government Primary School General Teachers’ Unity Council, stating that they are living in extreme hardship. He said that they are educating students without any government assistance and are striving to turn children into responsible human beings through education.
He made these remarks today, on 15 December at noon, while addressing a meeting of the Bangladesh Non-Government Primary School General Teachers’ Unity Council. Those present on the occasion included Central President of the National Teachers’ Forum Professor Md. Nasir Uddin Khan, Coordinator of the Bangladesh Non-Government Primary School General Teachers’ Unity Council Md. Matiur Rahman, Md. Mohsin, Md. Abdul Alim, Md. Nizamuddin, Md. Bashir Ahmed, Md. Sohel Rana, Md. Jewel Mondal, Md. Nizam Uddin, Mosammat Kamrunnahar Nupur, and Mosammat Raziya Sultana.
Professor Mujibur Rahman said that non-government primary schools that were excluded from the 20 January 2013 gazette should be nationalized immediately. He noted that teachers of the Bangladesh Non-Government Primary School General Teachers’ Unity Council have been subjected to police baton charges and harassment while protesting to realize their demands. He described the oppression and repression inflicted on teachers instead of accepting their demands as deeply regrettable.
Expressing support for the fair and reasonable demands of the Bangladesh Non-Government Primary School General Teachers’ Unity Council, he said that Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has supported the teachers’ movement in the past and will continue to cooperate in realizing their demands in the future as well. He urged the government to accept the demands of non-government primary school teachers.
Central President of the National Teachers’ Forum Professor Nasir Uddin Khan fully endorsed Professor Mujibur Rahman’s remarks and expressed complete support for the demands of the teachers of the Non-Government Primary School Unity Council, assuring them of all-out cooperation in achieving their demands.
