Former Minister and veteran freedom fighter Major (Retd.) Akhtaruzzaman joins Jamaat

Former Minister and veteran freedom fighter Major (Retd.) Akhtaruzzaman met with the Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dr. Shafiqur Rahman.

The courtesy meeting took place on Saturday (13 December) at 9:00 a.m. at the central office of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.

During the meeting, in the presence of the Jamaat Ameer, Major (Retd.) Akhtaruzzaman expressed his deep confidence and satisfaction in the principles and ideology of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, its patriotism, and its unwavering stance in safeguarding the country’s independence and sovereignty. At that time, by filling out the primary associate membership form of the organization, he formally joined Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.

He expressed his firm resolve to devote the remainder of his life to Islam and Islamic values, the interests of the country, and the protection of independence and sovereignty. At the same time, he pledged to always remain loyal to the rules and regulations, ideology, party discipline, and obedience of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.

The Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman warmly embraced him and prayed for his long and righteous life.

It is worth mentioning that Major (Retd.) Akhtaruzzaman is a veteran freedom fighter of historic Liberation War of Bangladesh, a senior politician, and one of the leading figures of various democratic movements. After independence, he devoted himself to politics and social welfare activities. He is a retired Major of the Bangladesh Army and was elected twice as a Member of Parliament from the Kishoreganj-2 constituency representing the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). He continues to play an active role to this day in securing dignity and just recognition for freedom fighters.
