Sharif Osman Hadi, convener and spokesperson of Inqilab Mancha and independent parliamentary candidate for Dhaka- 8 constituency, was shot and is now undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Friday afternoon (12 December). Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman immediately rushed to the hospital to inquire about Hadi’s physical condition. During the visit, he received updates from the attending doctors and requested the nation to pray for Hadi’s recovery.

While leaving Dhaka Medical, he told the media on behalf of the interim government:

“The incident of targeting and shooting an independent parliamentary candidate and a July fighter just a day after the election schedule was announced is extremely alarming. Such an incident cannot and must not be downplayed in any way. The terrorists must be arrested without delay, and those behind the attack must be clearly identified and presented before the nation.”

Central Working Committee member and Nayeb-e-Ameer of Dhaka City South Advocate Dr. Helal Uddin,
Parliamentary candidate for Dhaka-17 Dr. S. M. Khaleduzzaman, Parliamentary candidate for Dhaka-7 Hafez Haji Muhammad Enayet Ullah, along with other central and city leaders were present on the occasion.
