Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General and former Member of Parliament Mia Golam Porwar said that when the morality of a nation collapses, it is impossible to bring about structural or fundamental changes while keeping that decayed morality alive. He said the only way to solve the nation’s problems is to ensure structural reforms of the state along with a qualitative transformation in leadership.
Speaking at a community gathering on Tuesday evening, 2 December, at a convention hall in Birmingham, United Kingdom, organized by Probashi Voice UK Midland and chaired by its president Syed Zamirul Islam Babu, Mia Golam Porwar further said that if there is a moral transformation in national leadership, all problems—including the harassment of expatriates at airports—will be automatically resolved.
He said that the fallen fascist regime has devastated the structure of all state institutions. Once a patriotic Islamic government is established, expatriates will not need to plead for their rights; rather, we will take all necessary initiatives to fulfill those demands, Insha Allah.
Jamaat's Secretary General further stated that Jamaat has played the strongest role everywhere in ensuring voting rights for expatriates. He said that during the long period of fascist rule, Jamaat endured severe persecution. For years, all the central, district, and sub-district offices of Jamaat-e-Islami were shut down. Jamaat’s top leadership was executed and removed from this world. Finally, Jamaat itself was banned. But through the student-led revolution of 2024, a new sun has risen in the skies of Bangladesh. This was nothing but Allah’s mercy and help.
Former MP Golam Porwar added that without attaining the pleasure of Allah, success in the Hereafter is not possible. “We seek Allah’s pleasure by making His Deen victorious on His land.”
Calling upon everyone—including expatriates—to play an important role from their respective positions in establishing an Islamic welfare state in favor of the country, and the truth in the upcoming national elections, scheduled to be held in February, he urged for collective participation.
The gathering was conducted by Maulana Saifuddin, while the memorandum was read out by Probashi Voice’s Secretary Abdus Salam Mohammad Masum. Other speakers included community leader Farid Mia, Maulana Lutfur Rahman Belal, Barrister Abdullah Mohammad Ismail, businessman Abdul Malik Parvez, Khelafat Majlish leader Enamul Hasan Sabir, Habibur Rahman, Dr. M.A. Matin, Khandaker Kabir Uddin, and Tanzim Mahbub.
