Shamsunnahar Islam, wife of Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary General, detained victim leader ATM Azharul Islam and a member of Jamaat-e-Islami died at midnight on 1st March, 2024 at the age of 67. Innalillah Wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun. She left her detained husband, one son, 4 daughters and many other relatives.

The husband of the deceased and Jamaat’s detained Assistant Secretary General ATM Azharul Islam released on parole today to attend the funeral prayer of his beloved husband. Jamaat’s Acting Ameer and former MP Professor Mujibur Rahman led the prayer. Jamaat’s Nayeb-e-Ameer and former MP Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher and Maulana ANM Shamsul Islam, Secretary General and former MP Professor Mia Golam Porwar, Assistant Secretary General Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, Hamidur Rahman Azad, Maulana Abdul Hali, Advocate Moazzem Hossain Helal and central executive committee members and publicity secretary Matiur Rahman Akanda, Dhaka south city Ameer Nurul Islam Bulbul, Dhaka north city Ameer Mohammad Selim Uddin, central executive committee member Mobarak Hossain, Abdur Rab, Mohammad Shahabuddin, Islami Chhatrashibir’s central president Monjurul Islam and many Jamaat leaders and activists participated in the funeral prayer. Following the funeral prayer at the Dhanmondi Eidgah ground, the deceased was buried in Azimpur graveyard of the capital.

“At her demise, we have lost a dedicated soul for the Islamic movement. He has worked sincerely for establishing a just and Islamic society. She has played significant role for the expansion of Islam and the Islamic movement. I am expressing deep shock at her death.

May Allah forgive her, bless her and expand her grave. May Allah forgive her sins and turn it into pieties. May Allah ease her eternal journey. May Allah bless her with Jannah and enable her mournful families to tolerate the shock of losing their nearest family member. Ameen.
