Message of condolence

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following message of condolence on 14 February 2020 at the death of Jamaat-e-Islami’s Nayeb-e-Ameer and former MP Maulana Abdus Subhan. In the message of condolence, Jamaat Ameer said, I am deeply shocked and saddened by the death of popular leader, 5-times elected parliamentarian, noted religious scholar and veteran politician Maulana Abdus Subhan.

He has been sentenced to death in a controversial and politically motivated case based on the false testimonies of the ruling party men. He has been remaining behind the bar for last 8 years. 92 years old veteran leader has played pivotal role for the socio-economic and political development of Bangladesh. People of Pabna will remember him always for his remarkable contribution for the development of the district. He has established huge number of educational institutions in Pabna. He dreamt for producing competent citizens from these institutions with the combination moral and modern lessons. He has passed all the moments of his life in persuasion of this dream. In his last days, he became critically ill inside the prison as such the prison authority became compelled to transfer him in Dhaka Medical College hospital. But the hospital authority also failed to provide him due treatment. Under the circumstances, his families appealed to the government for several times to allow his treatment under the supervision of the family.

But those appeals remained unheard. We also urged the concerned authorities to take due initiatives for the proper treatment of Maulana Abdus Subhan. But it is regrettable that, the man who has worked throughout his life for the betterment of the nation, in his last days, he became deprived from receiving adequate treatment. The way he has been treated in last couple of days is really unfortunate.

He took his last breath amid the negligible treatment of the authority. I am praying for him. May Allah accept all his noble deeds and bless him with Jannah. I am also extending my deep sympathy to his mournful family and relatives. May Allah help them to hold patience during these painful moments.
