Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Hamidur Rahman Azad has issued the following statement on 26th November, 2016 protesting the comment of Shahriar Kabir, who has claimed in an interview with Kolkata based journalists that Jamaat were involved with the recent incidents of torturing on minorities.

Mr Shahriar Kabir has made this false and baseless comment with ill intention to tarnish the image of Jamaat-e-Islami. They have been making continuous propaganda against Jamaat for years. But they could not prove their allegations ever. I am asserting that even in this occasion, he will not be able to bring any evidences to prove his claim.

It is ruling Awami League and its partymen who are actually involved with minority assault incidents. Shahriar Kabir is making such false comments to save those ruling party hooligans. It becomes his bad habit to blame and to carry propaganda against Jamaat-e-Islami. I am urging Mr. Shahriar Kabir and his allies to stop making baseless propaganda against Jamaat-e-Islami immediately.
