Jamaat-e-Islami declares nationwide peaceful demonstration on Wednesday protesting ongoing mass killings against Muslims in Myanmar

Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Maqbul Ahmad and party’s Acting Secretary General Dr. Shafiqur Rahman have issued the following joint statement on 21st November, 2016 declaring nationwide peaceful demonstration on 23rd November, Wednesday demanding immediate end to the ongoing genocide of the Myanmar government against the Muslim communities.

“Myanmar government is busy in plotting conspiracy to eliminate country’s Muslim community by driving a brutal genocide against them. The government of Myanmar is continuously violating the international human rights by continuing such inhuman mass killings. In recent days, the Myanmar army also opened indiscriminate fire against the Muslims from helicopters. Already around 350 Muslims have been murdered and many others became injured due to such gruesome attack. Fire has been set at 3 thousands houses of the Muslims and over 30 thousand people became homeless. Many women became raped. The Myanmar army is conducting unbelievable tortures and oppression against the Muslims. No foreign or local journalists are allowed to get into the area for collecting real news. As a result, the world communities cannot know the genuine news of the ongoing genocide, mass killings and suppressions in Myanmar. United Nations and all the international forums have urged the Myanmar government to stop their mass killings but unfortunately they are not paying heed to such calls.

The human rights and humanity of the Myanmar Muslims became completely shattered. They tried to push into the Bangladeshi territory to save their lives but the Bangladesh government denied them. The government of Bangladesh is repeatedly ignoring the UN and other international organization’s call to let the Myanmar Muslims enter into the Bangladeshi territory. I am urging the Bangladeshi government to consider the issue of Myanmar’s homeless and oppressed Muslim’s entrance into Bangladeshi territory from humanitarian perspective.

I am calling upon the leaders, activists, well wishers and supporters of Jamaat-e-Islami and the countrymen to recite Kunut-e-Najela repeatedly seeking Almighty Allah’s blessings to bring an end to the ongoing genocide of the Myanmar government against the Muslim communities.

On behalf of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, we are declaring nationwide peaceful demonstration on 23rd November, Wednesday demanding immediate end to the ongoing mass killing drive of the Myanmar authority against the Muslim communities.

We are asking all the units and wings of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and seeking the assistance of the countrymen to make the declared program successful.”
