6 killed in Canada’s Quebec City Mosque shooting; Secretary General expresses concern

Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 30th January, 2017 expressing deep concern as gunmen stormed into a mosque in Quebec city of Canada during evening prayers and opened fire on dozens of worshippers, killing six and wounding eight and another incident where a mosque in Texas in United States has been burnt into ashes.

“The Muslims from across the world are highly anxious as gunmen stormed into a mosque in Quebec city of Canada during evening prayers and opened fire on dozens of worshippers, killing six and wounding eight and another incident where a mosque in Texas in United States has been burnt into ashes on last 28th January. Such a kind of terrorist attacks in these two democratic and developed countries are unexpected and unwanted. Such terrorist attacks are really condemnable and painful in all aspects.

It is the duty and obligation for every government to ensure that the Muslims can say their prayers peacefully and safely in the mosques, which is regarded as the sacred home of the Almighty Allah. The world communities expect that both the aforesaid countries would be successful enough to tackle such terrorist attacks.

I hope that the government of Canada and the USA would arrest and punish those criminals who were involved with the shooting incident in Canada that left 6 people killed and 8 seriously wounded and similarly the US government also take punitive actions against the miscreants who had complicity with the incident of setting fire in a Texas Mosque.

I am praying for the salvation of the departed souls who have been shot dead in a Quebec City Mosque in Canada and extending profound sympathy to the victim families. I am also praying for the quickest recovery of the injury victims.
