Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair strongly condemns and protests against the dissemination of false information about Jamaat-e-Islami

-Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair

Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Head of the Central Publicity and Media Department Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair issued a statement today, 6 September expressing strong condemnation and protest against the information-terrorism carried out in a article written by journalist Sayeed Khan against Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.

In the statement, he said, “In the 6 September issue of the Daily Kaler Kantho, on page 6, in the article written by Mr. Sayeed Khan under the headline ‘Nil Noder Pani Nil Noy’ (‘The Water of the Nile is Not Blue’), fabricated, concocted, false, and purposefully misleading information-terrorism has been carried out against Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami. I strongly condemn and protest this article, based on false information.

He further said, “The allegations brought against Jamaat-e-Islami in the article are nothing new. Anti-Islamic syndicates have, for ages, been conducting such baseless propaganda to mislead the public. With the dishonest intention of tarnishing the image of Jamaat-e-Islami, leftist and secular quarters repeatedly bring forward these allegations. But until today they have failed to prove them in any couryt. In reality, Jamaat has repeatedly been elected by the people’s votes and made representation in the National Parliament and has played an important role for the welfare of the country. In 1991, Jamaat’s 18 elected Members of Parliament supported BNP in forming a democratic government. In 2001, in the BNP–Jamaat coalition government, two Jamaat ministers served with significant contributions to the nation’s development.”

“The people, just as they rejected such false propaganda in the past, will, Insha’Allah, continue to reject it in the future as well. Therefore, I request Mr. Sayeed Khan to refrain from spreading false and misleading information. At the same time, I hope the authorities of the daily Kaler Kantho will publish this rejoinder statement in the appropriate place to dispel the readers’ confusion.”
