[1:07 am, 05/08/2025] A Mabrur Vai: Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Head of the party’s Central Publicity and Media Division Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair issued a statement on August 4, strongly condemning and protesting the fabricated, baseless, and malicious propaganda spread against Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami in a report titled “Jamaat silently controlling everything” published on the front page of the Daily Inqilab on August 4, 2025.

In his statement, he said, “I strongly condemn and protest the fabricated, baseless, and intentional propaganda spread against Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami in the report titled ‘Jamaat silently controlling everything’ published on the front page of the Daily Inqilab on August 4. The headline and content of the published report are completely false, misleading, and a clear example of yellow journalism. This report attempts to incite negative sentiment among the public against Jamaat-e-Islami, which goes against even the minimum standards of ethics and journalism.

He further stated, “The people of this country know well that Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is a well-organized, idealistic, and disciplined Islamic political party. The recently held rally on July 19 at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan is a shining example of such a claim. Despite the massive crowd, the discipline maintained at the event was praised nationwide. Jamaat’s principles, discipline, and moral integrity have proven to be acceptable to any person of good conscience.”

In the statement, he said, “The Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, from his verified Facebook ID, praised Jamaat’s internal discipline and honesty, commenting that ‘their internal discipline and reputation for honesty are exemplary for all parties.’ The hateful and false propaganda that Inqilab has launched centering this comment is completely unwarranted. By presenting a constructive comment as a ‘storm of controversy,’ the newspaper has lost its journalistic neutrality.”

He added, “The report claims that ‘some netizens have compared Jamaat’s honesty and discipline to a deadly cancer.’ Such a comment only reflects a sick mindset. Honesty, discipline, procedural integrity, and justice do not spread cancer in society; rather, they are the very foundations for building a well-governed and healthy society. It is extremely condemnable that the Daily Inqilab has promoted such a distorted perspective.”

He continued, “One section of the report deliberately misrepresents Jamaat’s roles in 1947 and 1971.”

He stated, “History bears witness that Jamaat, by participating in the 1986 national parliamentary elections, did not help sustain any autocratic regime. On the contrary, it conducted movements demanding a caretaker government, which paved the way for the fall of dictatorship. In contrast, the Inqilab newspaper played an active role in supporting that autocratic regime — a fact that history has not forgotten.”

He said, “I urge the concerned reporter and the authorities of the Daily Inqilab to reflect upon their own past and maintain professionalism in their reporting, and to refrain from propagating against Jamaat-e-Islami. At the same time, I hope the Inqilab authorities will publish this protest statement with due importance and help minimize the confusion created among the public.”
