On August 2, Bonik Barta published a report titled "A senior official of the caretaker government had requested Major General (Retd.) Hamidul Haque to assist in restructuring the state", in which baseless and imaginary information involving Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami was presented. Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and head of the party’s Central Publicity and Media Department Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair issued a statement on 3rd August, 2025 condemning and protesting the above-mentioned report.
In the statement, he said, “The report states that 'a section of Jamaat had close or informal contact with Major General (Retd.) Hamidul Haque,’ which is completely false, misleading, and intentionally fabricated. I strongly condemn and protest this concocted statement.”
He further said, “Although the report claims there was contact between a section of Jamaat and Major General (Retd.) Hamidul Haque, the reporter failed to mention the name of any Jamaat leader or specify who was allegedly involved. This clearly proves that the report is fabricated, fictional, and baseless. No one from Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami had any form of contact or association with that individual.”
“We believe that publishing such unfounded news by unnecessarily dragging in the name of Jamaat-e-Islami is a vile and unprofessional act.
We call upon the reporter of Daily Bonik Barta, along with all others concerned, to refrain from publishing false, baseless, and imaginary information against Jamaat-e-Islami.”
