Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Assistant Secretary General and former MP Dr. Hamidur Rahman Azad issued the following statement on May 5 strongly condemning and protesting the cowardly attack by the miscreants on Hasnat Abdullah, the chief organizer of the National Citizens Party (NCP) southern region.
“On the evening of May 4, terrorists attacked Hasnat Abdullah, the chief organizer of the National Citizens Party (NCP) in the southern region, and his colleagues in Gazipur. Hasnat Abdullah was injured in this cowardly attack by terrorists. I strongly condemn and protest this attack. The attackers are enemies of democracy. At a time when the country is moving towards a stable democracy, such terrorist activities are undesirable and unwelcome. Such violent activities by the allies of the defeated forces must be strictly suppressed.
I strongly urge the concerned authorities to conduct a free, fair and impartial investigation into this attack, and immediately find the people involved in the incident in order to ensure due punishment of the of the offenders.”
