Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman issued a condolence message on April 13 expressing deep sorrow over the passing of world-renowned Islamic thinker, economist, and former Nayeb-e-Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Professor Khursheed Ahmad.

"Professor Khursheed Ahmad made significant contributions throughout his life by playing an active role in the Islamic movement as well as in political and intellectual spheres. As an Islamic scholar, in addition to contributing to the development of Islamic economics, he also authored numerous books aimed at raising awareness about Islamic principles on economy. As a leader of the Islamic movement, he led Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan with foresight and wisdom. As a senator, he served his nation with distinction from 2002 to 2012.

Due to his contribution to the promotion of Islamic values and policy-making, Mr. Khursheed Ahmad was honored with the King Faisal International Prize. Among his many achievements, he played a pivotal role alongside Khurram Jah Murad in establishing the Islamic Foundation in the United Kingdom. This institution has played a unique role in research, the dissemination of Islamic education and knowledge. In 1979, he founded the Institute of Policy Studies in Islamabad and served as its chairman for a long time."

He was not only a prominent institutional figure, but his personal qualities also inspired others. He led a life of simplicity and humility. He dedicated himself to the service of the Muslim Ummah. His writings and speeches will continue to inspire generations in the Muslim world to build their lives on the foundation of Islamic values. Although he belongs to the movement in Pakistan, Islamic movements around the world beyond Pakistan benefited greatly from his wise and prudent leadership.

We deeply feel the void created by his passing. His thoughts and works will continue to play a unique role in the awakening of the Islamic spirit.

I extend heartfelt sympathy and solidarity to the brothers and sisters of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan and the broader Islamic movement. May Almighty Allah, Lord of the Worlds, accept all his righteous deeds and grant him a high rank in Paradise. I also extend sincere condolences to his family, relatives, and the countless admirers and well-wishers across the world. May Allah grant us all the strength to endure this loss with patience. Ameen.
