Dr. Maulana Keramat Ali strongly protests against the news linking Jamaat with Nabil Group

-Dr. Maulana Keramat Ali

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s central working committee member and Rajshahi city Ameer Dr. Maulana Keramat Ali has strongly protested against the baseless report published on the online portal Bangla Outlook on February 12, titled “১৩ হাজার কোটি টাকা লুটেও বহাল তবিয়তে নাবিল গ্রæপ, নেপথ্যে জামায়াতের আশকারা?” ("Nabil Group Remains Unscathed Despite Looting 1,300 Billion Taka – Backed by Jamaat?")

In a statement issued on February 13, Dr. Maulana Keramat Ali stated, "The investigative report published on Bangla Outlook, which alleges political connections between Nabil Group and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, is entirely unfounded."

He further explained that on January 18, during Jamaat-e-Islami’s workers’ conference at the historic Madrasa Ground in Rajshahi, along with a large crowd of people, many distinguished individuals of Rajshahi were also present. Without the knowledge and approval of the Rajshahi City Ameer, Nabil Group’s chairman, Aminul Islam Swapan, ascended the stage. He is not affiliated with Jamaat-e-Islami at any level. The businesses of Nabil Group and their bank loans are solely his own responsibility, and the consequences, whether good or bad, rest entirely on him. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has no involvement in this matter.

Dr. Maulana Keramat Ali emphasized that "Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is a party for the people and is striving to establish Bangladesh as a welfare state through lawful means. This report is nothing but an attempt to tarnish the image of Jamaat-e-Islami in the eyes of the people."

He strongly condemned the report published by Bangla Outlook and urged the portal to publish his statement in the appropriate section as a sign of respect for journalistic ethics. He expressed hope that doing so would help clear any untoward misunderstandings.
