On February 13, at 10 am, a meeting owas held between the Election Commissioners and a 6-member delegation of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami led by party's Secretary General and former MP Professor Mia Golam Porwar. A written statement was presented on behalf of Jamaat-e-Islami on making the upcoming National Parliament elections free, fair, impartial, acceptable and meaningful.
The other members of the Jamaat delegation were Assistant Secretary General and former lawmaker Hamidur Rahman Azad, Central Executive Council Member and Jamaat's Publicity and Media secretary Advocate Matiur Rahman Akanda, Central Working Committee Members Advocate Muhammad Jasim Uddin Sarkar and Advocate Yusuf Ali and Advocate Kamal Uddin. Four Election Commissioners were present at the meeting along with the Chief Election Commissioner.

During the exchange of views, Jamaat's delegation urged to complete the desired reforms and subsequently to hold free, fair, impartial and participatory National election within a reasonable time. They said that for free, fair and impartial elections, the law and order situation needs to be improved as expected; so that people can freely participate in the elections and exercise their right to cast votes.
The delegation also said that whatever reforms are needed to create an environment for free and fair elections must be completed quickly. Jamaat-e-Islami is ready to give as much time as is needed to make reforms to make the elections free, fair and impartial. This is why; Jamaat-e-Islami has not fixed any date, time or deadline. However, this time should not be prolonged too much.
The exchange of views was held in a very sincere and cordial atmosphere. Jamaat leaders and commission officials listened to both of them patiently and attentively. Both sides also became agreed to hold free, fair and impartial elections.
