Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s central executive council member and party’s media and publicity secretary Matiur Rahman Akanda has issued the following statement on 15th October, 2024 protesting and gainsaying the false and distorted information which has been stated in the article titled ‘জামায়াতের আগ্রাসী আচরণ ও কয়েকটি মৌলিক প্রশ্ন’ (Jamaat’s aggressive roles and some basic questions) published in the 4th page of Daily Samakal on 15th October.
"I strongly condemn and protest against the baseless false and misleading information presented by the author of the article titled ‘জামায়াতের আগ্রাসী আচরণ ও কয়েকটি মৌলিক প্রশ্ন’ (Jamaat’s aggressive roles and some basic questions) published in the 4th page of Daily Samakal against Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir has no connection with the information as stated in the aforesaid article.
Our clear stance about that article is that Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir have no nexus with the incident of performing songs on the altar of the Hindu festival in Chittagong. Jamaat and Chhatrashibir have no connection with the massacres of 1971. No one has been able to prove in any court with appropriate documents that Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir were related to that massacre. In the past too, attempts have been made to mislead people by spreading such baseless false fictions. But the people of the country were not misled by their propaganda.
I appeal to the author of the article to refrain from spreading baseless, false and misleading propaganda against Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir and hope that the authorities of Daily Samakal will take the opportunity to clear the confusion by publishing this protest statement.
