-Maulana ATM Masum

Acting Secretary General Maulana ATM Masum has issued the following statement on 11th December, 2023 condemning police's tortures and simultaneously urging to make nationwide blockade successful.

"Marking International Human Rights Day, Jamaat-e-Islami observed human chain programs across the country. Police obstructed these programs and arrested several Jamaat leaders and activists from different spots. Police hurled tear shell and opened fire on a human chain program organised by Dhaka south city Jamaat. We have no word to condemn such aggressive roles of the police forces. In last 24 hours, police have arrested 15 leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir including Rajshahi city Jamaat's assistant secretary Shahadat Hossain, olama department secretary Maulana Ruhul Amin, Rajshahi city Chhatrashibir secretary Sifat Alam and Sirajganj district's Enayetpur thana Ameer Principal Abdul Gafur. It is the constitutional right of every citizen to hold procession and rallies. By obstructs peaceful program like human chain, the government has grossly violated human rights. I am condemning the tortures, repression and human rights violations of the government and demanding immediate release of all political detainees. Besides, I am urging the Jamaat leaders and activists and the fellow countrymen to make the declared programs successful.
