Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Acting Secretary General Maulana ATM Masum has issued the following statement on 6 February, 2022 protesting and condemning the unjust arrests of Pabna district Jamaat Ameer Professor Abu TalebMandal, district’s Nayeb-e-Ameer and Aatghoria Upazila’s former Chairman Maulana Zahurul Islam, Nayeb-e-Ameer Professor Nazrul Islam, district’s Labor Affairs Secretary Professor Rezaul Karim and Baitulmal Secretary Maulana Abdus Shakur.

A social meeting was arranged in DarulAman Trust Building on 6^th February. At around 12 at noon, a team of the DB police cordoned off the building and arrested Pabna district Jamaat Ameer Professor Abu TalebMandal, district’s Nayeb-e-Ameer and Aatghoria Upazila’s former Chairman MaulanaZahurul Islam, Nayeb-e-Ameer Professor Nazrul Islam, district’s Labor Affairs Secretary Professor Rezaul Karim and Baitulmal Secretary MaulanaAbdus Shakur intentionally. I am vehemently condemning this arrest drive.

The government is not allowing any citizens to enjoy and exercise their rights. The government has also committed an unconstitutional and unjustifiable offence by detaining them from social activities. I am urging the concerned authorities to release them immediately.
