Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General and former lawmaker Professor Mia Golam Porwar has issued the following statement on 11 March, 2021 protesting and condemning the unjust arrest of Rajshahi city Jamaat’s organizing secretary and former mayor Katakhali Municipality Professor Mazedur Raman.

Police has unjustifiably arrested Rajshahi’s popular leader and former mayor Katakhali Municipality Professor Mazedur Raman in connection with a false case. I am vehemently condemning such arrest incident.

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is a systematic and democratic political party. Jamaat has been working relentlessly for the benefit and welfare of the general masses. Jamaat’s leaders and activists are not involved with any illegal and banned activities. They are playing constructive role for the nation. Police is filing false cases and arresting Jamaat leaders and activists in order to obstruct party’s constructive and positive activities.

I am urging the concerned authorities to stop torture and oppressions at once and also to release all detained party leaders and activists including Professor Mazedur Rahman immediately.
