Matiur Rahman Akanda protests the confusing and shocking news of Daily Ittefaq against Jamaat-e-Islami

Central Executive Committee member of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and party’s central publicity Affairs Secretary Matiur Rahman Akanda has issued the following statement on 10 March 2021 protesting and gainsaying the report of Bengali Daily Ittefaq titled ‘ক্ষমা না চেয়েও স্বাধীনতার সুবর্ণ জয়ন্তী উদযাপন জামায়াতের’ (Jamaat declares programs to celebrate golden jubilee of independence, but no word for seeking forgiveness) published on 10th March.

“In a report titled ‘ক্ষমা না চেয়েও স্বাধীনতার সুবর্ণ জয়ন্তী উদযাপন জামায়াতের’ (Jamaat declares programs to celebrate golden jubilee of independence, but no word for seeking forgiveness), Bengali daily Ittefaq conducted preplanned propaganda against Jamaat-e-Islami. The report brought some irrelevant issues in forth. Jamaat-e-Islami is a systematic and democratic political party. Jamaat’s roles in previous all democratic movements are well-recognized. Jamaat has taken part in all parliamentary elections and almost in all such elections, Jamaat has its representatives in the parliament. Jamaat-e-Islami has played a constructive role in the parliament and set a new trend of positive politics. As a political party, it is Jamaat’s rights to celebrate 50 years of country’s glorious independence. Such provocative and confusing report of Daily Ittefaq has caused pains among us. We are vehemently protesting and condemning such report.

I am urging the concerned authorities of Daily Ittefaq to be refrained from publishing such confusing news in future.
