Central Executive Committee member of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and party’s publicity Affairs Secretary Matiur Rahman Akanda has issued the following statement on 3 February 2021 protesting and condemning an attempt of Somoy TV’s online news portal as they tried to portray British Journalist David Bergman as an appointed lobbyist of Jamaat-e-Islami.

We want to assert that David Bergman is a British journalist. He had never worked as the Jamaat appointed lobbyist, not even now. We are surprised and shocked as Somoy TV news has published such manipulated and concocted news. If they have any evidence in support of their claims, they should bring those in forth. Otherwise, they should regret for publishing such baseless and false news. We hope that they would the ethics of journalism in future and would be refrained from publishing such false and confusing news in future.
