Secretary General criticizes foreign ministry as it makes intentional propaganda against Jamaat-e-Islami

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General and former member of the Parliament Professor Mia Golam Porwar has issued the following statement on 2 February 2021 protesting and condemning the malign propaganda of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in their press release which they had issued as a reaction to a documentary of AlJazeera News Network.

“On February 1 of 2021, International News Network AlJazeera has on-aired a documentary titled ‘All the Prime Minister’s Men’. Bangladesh government’s foreign ministry has issued a press release as its official reaction to that documentary. But in the press release, the concerned authorities have made unprecedented malign and intentional propaganda against Jamaat-e-Islami. The Press Release termed Jamaat as a terrorist organization and claimed that Jamaat is propagating against Bangladesh in the global arena. This is nothing but a false and fabricated allegation against Jamaat-e-Islami. Such a claim is made just to tarnish the good image and reputation of Jamaat. The government officials and the ruling party leaders had made several statements earlier affiliating Jamaat with any kind of debacle incident. But all those statements proved as false ultimately. Blaming Jamaat-e-Islami even while issuing press release from a ministry is nothing but the repetition of their old tactics. The government has made these claims just to conceal their unlimited failures, corruptions and irregularities.

We want to affirm that Jamaat-e-Islami is a systematic democratic party. Jamaat-e-Islami does not believe in terrorism or in the politics of plots and conspiracies. Jamaat had never been involved in conducting propaganda against the country both in home and abroad. Jamaat vehemently rejects such attitudes and strategies.

I am calling upon the concerned authorities to be refrained from making such false and confusing statements against Jamaat-e-Islami in future.”
