Central Executive Committee member of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and party’s Publicity Affairs Secretary Matiur Rahman Akanda has issued the following statement on 25 January 2021 protesting and rejecting the report titled ‘বিএনপি-জামায়াত কে কার ওপর ভর করে দাঁড়াতে চাচ্ছে’ (BNP and Jamaat- trying to stand on other’s base) published in the Bengali Daily Bangladesh Pratidin on 25 January.

The aforesaid report has drawn our attention. The author of the article has placed some information about Jamaat-e-Islami which is totally false, untrue and confusing. The report also claimed that Jamaat is implementing the agenda of Pakistani intelligence agency ISI. Such claim is completely false and politically motivated. We want to assert that not only with the intelligence agencies of Pakistan, Jamaat has no connection with any such agency of any country whatsoever. It becomes a bad habit of some so-called intellectuals to blame Jamaat-e-Islami.

I am urging the authorities concerned to be refrained from publishing wrong and confusing information in future.
