Rafiqul Islam Khan protests the false news of channel I online version; Jamaat has no connection with militants

Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan has issued the following statement on 20 January 2021 protesting and gainsaying the report titled ‘গ্রেপ্তার জঙ্গিরা অনেকেই জামায়াত-শিবিরের সঙ্গে জড়িত’ ) ‘Arrested militants were involved with Jamaat and Shibir) published in the online version of Channel I on last 19 January.

In a discussion held in the Islamic Foundation Head office in Agargaon of the capital on last 19 January, Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism & Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit Monirul Islam said, several from the arrested militants had been involved with Jamaat and Shibir earlier. His comments are completely false and confusing. We are humbly keen to know from him, how much sensible it is to make a comment about a particular political party from designated position of the government.

We want to assert that Jamaat-e-Islami is an Islamic organization, clearly believes in systematic and democratic trend of politics. Jamaat-e-Islami does not believe in terrorism and terror activities. Even in previous occasions we had said it repeatedly, even before joining a militant outfit, Jamaat had expelled Maulana Saidur Rahman for his deviation. Who does not have any nexus with Jamaat-e-Islami, it is not justified to implicate him with the party again.

We are urging the concerned authorities to be refrained from making any confusing and false remark in future.
