Central Publicity Affairs Secretary of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and party’s central executive committee member Matiur Rahman Akanda has issued the following statement on 28 November 2020 protesting and gainsaying the false information in a report titled ‘৩০ বছর ভোটে অংশ নেবে না জামায়াত!’ (Jamaat will not take part in election in next 30 years) published in the Bengali daily ‘Manab Zamin’ today.

In a report titled ‘৩০ বছর ভোটে অংশ নেবে না জামায়াত!’ (Jamaat will not take part in election in next 30 years) published in the Bengali daily ‘Manab Zamin’, some information has been brought in forth referring the decision of Jamaat’s central executive committee. This is nothing but a concocted, fabricated and fictitious story of the concerned reporter. Jamaat’s central executive committee did not take any such decision. In one portion of the report, it is also said that that ‘the way Jamaat had established a reign of terror nationwide in 80s and 90s, the party cannot do that under this regime. This is another false and confusing claim of the reporter.

We want to assert that, Jamaat-e-Islami is a systematic and democratic political party. Jamaat never believes and endorses in terrorism and subversive activities. The party was never involved with terror acts and even now it has no nexus with such acts. The reporter has unjustifiably accused Jamaat of doing terrorism in 80s and 90s. It is the intentional propaganda of the concerned reporter against Jamaat-e-Islami. Such information is being published through various media for last one year. The countrymen are well informed that the incumbent authoritarian government has committed unprecedented repression and torture against Jamaat-e-Islami. However, the party still exists by the grace of Almighty Allah and continuing its activities based on the support and love of the fellow countrymen. We feel pity for them, who are continuing propaganda against Jamaat-e-Islami despite these visible realities.

I am urging the authorities of Daily Manab Zamin to be refrained from publishing such false, baseless and concocted report against Jamaat-e-Islami in the upcoming days.
